EYO CULTURAL CENTER: A Nexus of Heritage and Modernity
Commissioned by HRH Erelu Kuti IV of Lagos, Madam Abiola Dosunmu, the Eyo Cultural Center stands as a sophisticated extension of Lagos’s primary art exhibition landscape. The project is defined by Transitional Architecture, a design philosophy that harmonizes contemporary forms with the timeless beauty of Yoruba heritage.
The main architectural elements made use of include a building envelope adorned with extrusions of royal symbols and the rhythmic, tactile patterns of Aso-Ofi.
The structural columns are shaped to resemble the royal staff, symbolizing authority and traditional grace. This cultural narrative is complemented by lush, curated greenery, reflecting the integration of nature into traditional luxury.
As it was designed for versatility, the center features state-of-the-art exhibition spaces, modern workspaces, and staff accommodation. It also includes a private guest residence, rooftop garden, and pool, seamlessly blending its role as a public cultural hub with the comforts of a high-end estate.
